Congress party takes Mayor post in Hindupur

Hyderabad, February 26, 2007

In the Municipal Corporation elections of Rajahmundry mayoral elections, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won two posts on its own A. Veera Raghavamma of TDP was elected as the first women Mayor for Rajahmundry while B. Satyanarayana Prasad was elected as Deputy Mayor.

In Hindupur Municipality, the ruling party nominee P. Anil Kumar and K. Abdullah Khan were elected as Chairman and vice Chairman with the help of CPI as expected earlier.

In Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), the prestigious Mayor post went in favor of Congress candidate P. Janardhana Rao and Deputy Mayor K. Dorababu defeating the TDP contestants. This is possible only with the help of independents who earlier promised to the Congress high command unconditional support to the Congress candidate.
