State Government to develop Integrated Townships

Scheme meant for lower class and middle class people

Hyderabad, February 23, 2007

The State Government has decided to develop integrated townships in all the municipalities for the lower and middle class people. The townships will be on the lines of the Rajiv Gruhakalpa Scheme. The flat or house rates would be 20 to 25 percent less than the market value.

The Andhra Pradesh Housing Board, APIIC and Urban Development Authorities would develop the townships on no loss, no profit basis according to the Chief Minister who announced this with the media on Friday. He said that the townships would have quality infrastructure.

He said that four types of houses will be constructed keeping in mind the needs of the people. Cities with a population of five lakhs and above will get multi-storied complexes while independent houses will be constructed in other municipalities. To qualify for this, the applicant should be a native of the State and should not have any house in his/her name. The proposed project will be completed within two years. The allotees should not sell the house within five years of allotment. The survey is likely to be completed by the end of April, he said.
