Rebels leader Nagireddy promises unconditional support for Mayor post

Hyderabad, February 23, 2007

The Congress however finally managed to win over the independent corporators in the Visakha Municipal Corporation on Friday by getting promise from them to support the ruling party's candidate for the Mayor's post.

The nine corporators including one from TDP met the Chief Minister twice along with the Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konathala Ramakrishna and promised to support the ruling party candidate for the Mayor post of GVMC. The rebel leader T. Nagi Reddy promised unconditional support to the Congress candidate.

Speaking to media, he said that there are no conditions from heir side and decided to support the Congress candidate and have not bargained for any post. The APCC President K. Keshava Rao has decided to depute an observer for the Mayoral election on February 26. He will carry a sealed cover containing the names of the candidates for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
