Special teams of CID raids three Margadarsi premises

Search at Head Office was stopped following Court order

Hyderabad, February 21, 2007

The Crime Investigation Department officials armed with a search warrant issued by First Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Pramila Reddy, the 20-member team including three forensic experts led by IGP (CID) Krishna Raju raided three premises including its head office following repots of alleged financial irregularities in violation of RBI Act. The team arrived at the Margadarsi Head office around 11.30am and searches were conducted at Margadasi's office in Bubukhan Estates at Bashirbagh and another at Lakdi-ka-Pul.

The Council for Margadarsi Financers filed a revision in the Metropolitan Sessions Court, which directed the investigating officials to seal the premises it had searched so far. The case would be taken up for further hearing on Thursday. The entire operation lasted for about six hours and the officials reportedly seized files containing details of accounts of depositors. However, no outsider was allowed to enter the office and for sometime, the employees were not permitted to go out.

However, Margadarsi claimed that Section 45 S of the RBI Act was not applicable to it as it was a Hindu United Family (HUF), the RBI made it clear the provisions of Chapter III C of the RBI Act covered that even HUFs.
