Hyderabad, February 20, 2007

The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy addressing at the AP Official Urdu Districts first seminar - Mushaira Shaam-e-Nagma said that the State Government concurred with Justice Rajendra Sachar Committee's recommendations that illiteracy was the main reason for the socio-economic backwardness of Muslims. He assured that the minority students would be provide with best of education.

He said that the State Government has allocated Rs. 123 crore in the Budget for 2007-08 for the upliftment of minorities. This includes Rs. 68 crore towards scholarships to minority students.

The Chairman of the Official Languages Commission ABK Prasad and other members of the Commission participated in the function.
