Hyderabad, February 20, 2007

The State police busted a flesh trade racket at Chnadrapur in the neighbouring Maharashtra and rescued 35 minor girls. The police arrested 15 traffickers including 13 women. A girl who escaped from the clutches lodged a complaint with Suryapet police in Nalgonda district on February 13. The girl informed the police that three persons lured her to Maharashtra promising a job for four years ago and sold her to a brothel.

The Superintendent of Police of Nalgonda, K. Vijay Kumar said that based on the complaint, a case was booked and Nalgonda police, in association with Crime Investigation Wing (CID) officials raided dens in Chnadrapur on Tuesday.

According to the police sources, they rescued four girls were from Nalgonda, seven each from Warangal, five from Hyderabad, one each from Adilabad, Guntur, Mahabubnagar, Krishna and Nellore. All the traffickers were produced in a court in Nalgonda and were remanded to judicial custody. The rescued girls will be subjected to medical examinations to determine their age. All of them appears to be minors. The Superintend of Police said that the police departments have already in touch with the Women and Child Welfare Department for the rehabilitation of the flesh trade victims.
