Loan papers exempted from stamp duty

In line with the promise made to the fames, the Government has issued an order allowing exemption of stamp and registration fee in respect of documents to be executed for loans from banks/cooperative societies upto Rs. 3 lakhs in case of small and marginal farmers.

The benefit has also been made applicable to re-scheduling of such loans from one category to another, say short term to long-term. The small/marginal farmer has been defined as one holding five acres of wet or 10 acres of dry land.
