Ticks off political parties on bandhs, rastha rokhos
Hyderabad, February 12, 2007A complaint filed by a practicing advocate that the political parties in the State were blocking the National Highways, cities and towns in the name of bandhs and rastha rokhos causing much inconvenience to the common public. Basing on the complaint, a Division Bench of Andhra Pradesh, comprising Chief Justice GS Singhvi and Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy on Monday, issued notices to the major political parties in the State.
The notices issued to the political parties as they have blocked the National Highways and also main thoroughfares of the major cities and towns on issues such as nine hour uninterrupted power supply to agricultural sector, location of IIT and spurt in the prices of essential commodities etc.,
The Court issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police and directed them to explain the steps that are being taken to contain these kinds of rallies that disrupt the public life. The Court expressed its anguish over the state of affairs of the government and directed to examine the possibility of conducting political demonstrations in places, which do not affect the common public.
