Congress rebels launch indefinite strike

Agitating leaders sends fax messages to Congress high command

Guntur, December 9, 2007

The appointment of Dasari Kiran Kumar as president of District Youth Congress Committee took a new twist on Sunday when the six aspirants of the post launched an indefinite fast in front of the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan.

The hunger strike was inaugurated by Congress corporator and son of MLC R Srinivas and Sai Krishna. The launch of hunger strike has clearly exposed the internal discord among top leaders. The open support extended to the hunger strike by the Rayapati camp, even after Dasari Kiran Kumar met the Chief Minister and Government’s Political Advisor KVP Ramachandra Rao and had their blessings, will have wider political ramifications. The agitating leaders faxed their opinion to the Congress High Command.
