Package offered for acquisition of 867 acres of land
Vijayanagaram, December 3, 2007The Jindal South West Aluminum Limited has released the details of the rehabilitation and resettlement package offered for acquition of 867 acres of assigned lands that is approved by the State Government on Monday. According to a press release issued by JSW Alumina Limited, the JSW will pay compensation of Rs.2,00,500 per acre to the assignee and Rs.75,000 per acre to the Government for the assigned land. JSW would ensure employment based on the qualifications to every displaced family irrespective of the extent of land.
If a displaced family does not want employment, they would be given compensation of Rs. 3 lakh. Wages as per the Minimum Wages Act will be provided to each family from the date of dispossession of land or house on monthly basis until one individual from each family is provided suitable employment. It would also provide the homestead land to the extent of 1/10th acre with house on 480 sft of floor area with electricity, toilet, drainage and water facilities. If the family wants to settle outside on their own, they will be given one time compensation of Rs.1.5 lakh.
The JSW would pay Rs.5,000 to each project displaced family for transportation of household items from the house. An additional incentive of Rs.1,500 per month to each project displaced family for one year will be given. It also offers equity shares in JSW Aluminium Limited to the extent of an amount equal to the land cost as additional incentive. The shares will be free of cost as additional incentive to the farmers and will be issued through a trust that will hold them for three years and then transfer them to the land losers.
