Calls for development of Pulicot Lake
Nellore, December 28, 2007The Union Minister of State for Health, Panabaka Lakshmi has said that the government has drawn an ambitious plan under ’Nav Bharat Nirman Programme’ with an outlay of Rs. 1,30,000 crore for all round development of the country. Speaking after the inauguration of the ‘Flamingoes Festival’, at Sulurpet on Friday, she said that the Union Government is giving top priority of basic infrastructures in the rural areas.
She asked the authorities to focus on the development of Pulicot Lake area and improve the facilities keeping in view of the number of tourists visiting the area year by year. The Minister for Information and Tourism Anam Ramnarayan Reddy said that various proposals with a total outlay of Rs.56 crore for the development of the Lake as well as other tourist spots including ancient temples and waterfalls had been sent to the Centre for approval. He said that the development of tourism would provide more employment.
District in charge minister P Venkateswarlu, Minister for Small Scale Industries G Surya Rao, District Collector M Ravichandra, MLA N Surbamanyam and top officials and leaders were present. The Tourism department will be conducting various programmes as a part of the three-day Flamingoes Festival till December 30.
