18 inmates flees from Saifabad Government Childrens Home

Cuts open window grills and flees

Hyderabad, December 27, 2007

Eighteen inmates of Government Childrens’ Home at Saifabad enacted a great escape. According to sources, they reportedly cut open the window grills of the slided window. However, police managed to trace seven children and have sent them back. The inmates managed to come down using a pipe from the second floor and then scaled the compound wall into the open home that is meant for street children.

According to police sources, one of the children is believed to have brought in a hacksaw blade, 17 inmates joined him, and together they cut open the widow grills of the barrack on the second floor of the complex. Around 11am, while employees were glued to TV, one of the children took the initiative and slided down the pipe while others followed him. Some of them headed towards railway station, others found loitering in the streets at Saifabad. The police are on hunt for the 11 children.
