D Bhaskara Reddy Endowment Oration delivered at Asian Institute of Gastroenterology

Life style changes to double disease prone says K Srinath Reddy, President of the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI). Srinath Reddy delivered the first D Bhaskara Reddy Endowment Oration at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad.
Speaking on the topic - Current Challenges in Public Health in India, he said that the number of chronic diseases will double by 2025. Similarly, the number of diabetics will hit 69.8 million and people with tobacco prone diseases to 20 lakhs. Srinath highlighted the need to influence the social, economic and cultural determinants of health to enhance the gains in health and development.
