Announces support for land struggle
Khammam, August 7, 2007A delegation of the Left party MPs from West Bengal visited Mudigonda on Tuesday and announced total support to the land struggle in the State. They expressed concern over the use of police force on the agitators who are fighting for land related issues.
Anil Basu of CPI(M) and Prabodh Panda of CPI said that the land struggle would continue as a mass movement and the Congress Government in the State would have to face the consequences. Anil Basu said that the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi owed an explanation to the nation on the issue of land reforms. He said even though, land reforms figured prominently in the common minimum programme, there was no significant progress in the implementation.
He added that the Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy has to explain the people of his intention in using the police force on the people agitating peacefully in Mudigonda. It may be recalled that the unfortunate incident evoked nationwide protests and the Congress Government can not absolve itself of the responsibility.
