State secretary says Congress is trying to divert attention
Hyderabad, August 5, 2007The CPI(M) State secretary, BV Raghavulu said on Sunday that the party would not abandon the ongoing struggle in pursuit of political alliances keeping in view of the forth coming elections. He added that the Left parties are least bothered about the forthcoming elections and claimed struggles are important.
He charged that the Congress leaders are trying to engage the CPI(M) in a political discussion to divert the attention from land issues. He said that the both CPI and CPI(M) want the Chief Minister to own moral responsibility for the firing though the latter feel that the resignation demand would dilute the land struggle.
He commented that the Mudigonda firing should not be compared to that of Nandigram in West Bengal. He said that the police fired on the peaceful agitators whereas in Nandigram, there was a clash between the armed gang and the police. He reaffirmed that the firing that took place at Mudigonda and Basheerbagh are aimed at suppressing the people's struggles.
