Says the incident is unfortunate
Khammam, August 5, 2007The Minister for Health and Family Welfare Sambhani Chandrasekhar, on Sunday distributed cheques to the kin of the seven persons who were killed in the police firing at Mudigonda. Each of the family was given a compensation of Rs.5 lakhs as announced by the Chef Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy. In addition to this, the seven families were given Rs.1 lakh each from the Home Department as announced by the Home Minister K Jana Reddy.
The victim's families would be given two acre of land each by adhering to the normal procedure which is likely to take place within fifteen days. The persons who were seriously injured were also given Rs.50,000 each. However, the CPI(M) activists stoned the Minister's convoy at Chirumarri village on Friday.
The Minister commented that the incident was quite unfortunate and the priority was to instill confidence among the people in the area. He said one member of the family of the deceased will be given a job within a fortnight. He directed the Mandal Parishad Development Officer to help the victim's family to open bank accounts.
