Administration engages proclain and three JCM machines to retrieve the body
Prakasam, August 5, 2007A six year old boy Kartik who accidentally fall in an open bore well on Friday evening was retrieved dead on Sunday leaving the entire Botlagudur village in gloom. He was brought out dead out of the bore well hole by the mining workers who worked for over 36 hours digging. Hundreds of people who came from nearby villagers watched the whole episode went into shock and dismay. Kartik's mother and grand mother were inconsolable. The Revenue Officials engaged one proclain and three JCB machines and made strenuous efforts that lasted 44 hours to drill a well parallel to the bore well to reach the body lying at a depth of 40 feet.
The administration has made arrangements for conducting the postmortem examination at the accident spot itself and handed over the body to his parents for the last rites. The RDO who supervised the rescue operations promised to sanction 2.5 acres of land, a house and a compensation of Rs. 25,000 to Kartik's family. Meanwhile, the District Collector, K Devanand announced relief of Rs. 50,000 under Apathbandhu scheme.
The rain that filled the bore well got filled with water making the prospects of his survival bleak. Even then, the district administration rushed to the rescue the boy or at least retrieve his body. The TDP leader and former Chairman of Zilla Parishad M Kasi Reddy said that the RWS Department had abandoned several bore wells in the same way. He said this incident is an eye opener to the administrations to see that the same will not be repeated anywhere in the State.
