ESeva to be merged with Rajiv Internet Centres

Hyderabad, August 31, 2007

Nearly 250 e-Seva centers in 15 cities and 111 towns in the State that are currently offerign a variety of civic services will be merged with the numerous Rajiv Internet Village centres covering rural areas and AP Online, a website that offers data on various Government actives. The centres will hereafter function as Rajiv Citizen's Service Centres (RCSC). ESeva has been established to provide centralize civic services such as tax collections such as municipal taxes, water and property tax etc. ESeva centres also are providing issue of birth certificates, caste certificate and bill payment services such as those of BSNL and Tata Indicom.

With this, more citizen service centres are expected to be opened in rural areas offering listed services to rural consumers too who are now getting only a few of them through Rajiv Internet Village centres. A plan has been finalized to open on RCSC for every six villages with Central Assistance.

While reviewing the results of the e-governance initiatives launched by the State Government along with the officials of the Information Technology and Communication Department, the Chief Minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy has taken this decision. The Minister for Information Technology R Damodar Reddy speaking to reporters said that it was planned to outsource services like sale of stamps, applications, using CARD project in the Registration Department and also plans were on to e-preserve such documents.
