International Astronautical Congress, World Military Games on schedule

Hyderabad, August 29, 2007

The organizers of the two prestigious international events resolved not to postpone the major events in Hyderabad in the light of recent Saturday's twin bomb blasts. The International Astronautical Congress and the World Military Games made it clear that their respective shows would go on as schedule following assurances from the State Government to give foolproof security.

The organizers expressed confidence that the smooth conduct of the event at HICC in the middle of next month in which the Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams is expected to be star attraction. Meanwhile, the State Government has drawn up a detailed plans in its preparation for the World Military Games scheduled to begin from October 14, 2007. However, the organizers have postponed the Indian Open Badminton Championship.

The Astronautical Congress said in its website that the August 25 bomb blasts in the State Capital was not targeted any political party or agency but appeared to be a part of terrorism happening across the globe. It further added that it is similar to the one that had happened at Valencia last year a couple of months before IAC 2006 and also the incidents at Glasgow recently.
