Hoax bomb threat call causes panic

The hoax bomb threat call created a flutter i the seat of the State Administration and within minutes, the word spread like a wild fire. Nearly 5000 odd employees came out of the secretariat and the police rushed to the spot along with bomb dispoal squad with sniffer dogs descended on the scene.

All the blocks in the Secretariat were searched simultaneously while the employees came out of the Secretariat. Meanwhile, an abandoned bag near the canteen created a panic but the police found nothing in it. After, thorough search, the police came to conclusion that it was a hoax. Meanwhile, majority of the women employees left for homes. The entire Secretariat wore a deserted look.

Usually, the Secretariat is abuzz with activity till six in the evening. The visitors were also very few between 3pm to 5pm obviously due to bandh call given by the BJP. The Chief Secretary, J Harinarayan reviewed the security arrangements with senior officials of police and SPF who are in charge of the security. They decided to intensify the security at the main entrance from Tuesday onwards. They decided to check the vehicles of the senior officials and also Ministers. The security personnels were directed not to allow any one except visiting hours despite instructions from officials as well as ministers.
