Hyderabad, August 27, 2007

The temporary registration of new vehicles is now possible through e-Seva centres across the State that got under way from Monday was put to place primarily to check the abnormal registration fees charged by automobile showrooms.

Taking advantage of the prevailing situation, the automobile dealers were charging exorbitant permanent registration fee on the vehicle owners at times double the actual fee. While, the RTA prescribed registration fee for two wheelers is Rs.60, the dealers are collecting Rs.400 while it was Rs.400 for four wheelers, they are charging Rs.2,000 nearly according to reliable sources.

Taking stock of the situation, the government made amendments to the Andhra Pradesh Motor Vehicles Rules and issued a GO MS No. 239 authorizing the e-Seva centres to process temporary registrations.
