Orders to be implemented from October 2
Hyderabad, August 23, 2007The State Government issued orders specifying the rules and regulations to the ban imposed by it earlier on smoking in public places and in educational institutions. The rules provide for creations of separate enclosures for smokers wherever there is provision of 30 seats at public places like airports, buses, railway stations, hospitals etc.,
In the buses, the conductor is the competent authority to take action against the smokers. Similarly, the rules and regulations specified different rates of penalty to be collected as a punishment from smokers in educational institutions.
According to a senior official, the orders would come into force from October 2, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi with reference to no smoke ban imposed by the State Government through a legislation a few years ago.
