Cuddapah, August 23, 2007

A teacher, Sunitha of Sri Venkateswara Degree College in Kadapa committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence on Thursday in Kadapa. According to Circle Inspector of Chinna Chouk, an Intermediate student Narendra Kumar Reddy and his friend Jagadeeswar Reddy wrote a letter to the teacher claiming to have taken video of her while she was taking bath and demanded a ransom of Rs. 5,000.

The duo claimed in the letter that they had copied the video clip in 300 Compact Disks and would hand over it to the media for telecasting all over the State, the Inspector said. The sensitive teacher was terribly embarrassed and hanged herself in her house on Thursday. She had not lodged any complaint with the police.

The Chinna Chowk Police registered a case of abutment of suicide against the two youth who were arrested. Police are investigating the case.
