Andhra-Orissa boarder in grip of Elephant menace
Vijayanagaram, August 22, 2007
Four tribals were trampled to death when wild elephants stormed their hut in a remote hamlet nearly 18 kilometers from Gummalakmipurm on Andhra Orissa boarder in Vizianagaram district on Tuesday night. The post-mortem was conducted on Wednesday.
According to Conservator of Forests PV Padmanabham, nine adult and two baby elephants were going to the forest and the hut happened to come in their way. He says the incident occurred accidentally and this is not a case of an attack by the wild elephants on the people.
