Minister for Energy to lead the delegation
Hyderabad, August 21, 2007In view of the deadline set for deportation of illegal immigrants in UAE on September 2, the State Government has decided to take all necessary measures to ensure that nearly 45,000 people from the State who have been issued emergency certificates are brought back. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday has held discussions with the Energy Minister, Mohd.Ali Shabbir, Chief Secretary, J Harinarayan, Director General of Police, MA Basith and Regional Passport Officer, B Bala Bhaskar.
The meeting decided to depute a five-member delegation that will led by the Minister of Energy Mohd.Ali Shabbir to Dubai and Abu Dhabhi for ensuring safe passage of people who were stranded there. It was understood that the Indian Embassy in Dubai and Abu Dhabi had issued 60,000 emergency certificates and renewed passports of another 20,000 people who are from India.
Speaking to media, Shabbir said after the meeting that the team would leave for Dubai as soon as the visas were issued. He said that the team would study the conditions of the Indian people there and make arrangements for them to bring back to the State. Meanwhile, the Regional Passport Officer, Balabhaskar said any illegal immigrant, who stays back in UAE after the September 2 deadline would be subjected to local laws.
