Chandrababu Naidu predicts mid-term polls
Hyderabad, August 19, 2007
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President, N Chandrababu Naidu speaking to media on Sunday said that mid-term elections looked imminent. He said the same after an emergency meeting of the Polit Bureau.
He said that if the UPA wants to thrust elections on the country, the TDP is ready to face the same. He added that the United Progressive Alliance was opposed to the nuclear deal, as the country's sovereignty and national interests were at stake.
At a separate press conference, TDP MPs C Ramachandraiah, MV Mysoora Reddy and Lal Jan Pasha and Polit Bureau member Y Ramakrishnudu alleged that the Prime Minister, Man Mohan Singh misled the Parliament on the nuclear deal and betrayed the country. Dr.MV Mysoora Reddy said that the Prime Minister had in his suo motu statement said that the Hyde act would not impede the country's right to test nuclear weapons, nor would it hamper re-processing of nuclear fuel.
