Nine member committee visits site; Feels no irregularities in place
Hyderabad, August 13, 2007
The representative of all political parties except TDP who inspected the land allotted to Brahmani Steels in Jammalamadugu mandal on Monday found no irregularities were taken in the transaction. They also visited the land alloted to Raghuram Cements. The nine-member all-party committee were accompanied by the Obulapuram Mining Company and Brahmani Steels Chairman G Janardhan Reddy, Mines and Geology Director VD Rajagopal and other officials who inspected the project sites.
Some members made an aerial survey of Brahmani Steels and felt there is no evidence of any plant growth or animals in the area. Speaking to media after the inspection, the team members found fault with TDP leader N Janardhana Reddy who boycotted the visit in the middle. One of the members of the team commented that it was irresponsible behavior on the part of TDP leader and that one should be able to prove his allegations.
The Left Party leaders Venkata Reddy and Narasimhiah expressed their satisfaction and said mining of iron ore in OMC was going on at a brisk pace. The steel plant should be constructed at the same place, they said. They said that adequate compensation should be provided to them from whom lands were acquired for the construction of the steel plant.
