Anantapur, April 28, 2007

The police officials busted an inter State fake currency note racket on Saturday and arrested nine persons of the gang. The police also seized Rs.4.05 lakhs in the denomination of Rs.1000, Rs.500, genuine notes of Rs.35,000 and two cell phones from them.

Anantapur DSP GS Karunakar told to the media that four other members of the gang were still at large and the police are on hunt for them. He said that the gang has exchanged fake currency worth Rs.2 lakhs with Rs.1 lakh genuine currency with one Nagaraju in Guntur and Rs.3.5 lakh fake currency for Rs.1.2 lakhs genuine notes with Narendra Reddy of Kurnool. The racket was busted when Ramakrishna suspected that his brokers would be caught by the police in Hindupur and shifted his activity to Anantapur.

The police on specific information nabbed the gang. The arrested included B Ramakrishna of Hindupur, Suryanarayana of Bagepalli, Mohd.Rafi of Hoopty, N Ramesh and M Nagaraju of Hindupur, Chandra Reddy and P Nagaraju of Parigi, Sadiq Vali of Garladinne and V Ramesh of Penukonda and the rest of the four are at large.
