TRS Senior Leader and Former Union Minister Narendra suspended

Minister alleged was involvement in human trafficking case

Hyderabad, April 25, 2007

As expected the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leadership has finally decided to suspend its Senior Leader and Former Union Minister A. Narendra in the wake of veiled references to him made in connection with the human trafficking case which appears to go far deeper in the State. The leadership took the action basing on the complaints by two TRS MPs D. Ravindra Naik and Madhusudhan Reddy to Party Chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao that their passports were sought by Narendra sometime in 2006 and Visa stamping was done on them without their knowledge. While a Visa to Japan was obtained on Naik's passport, there were endorsements for South Korea and Bulgaria in the case of Reddy.

Letters were sent on forged letterheads of the two MPs to the consulates recommending visas to some persons mentioned as their colleagues. While it is not known who sent out the forged letters, the MPs subsequently informed the consulates that they had not recommended any names for visas and also lodged a complaint with the State Police who did not bother to look into the issue. Party Spokesman S. Madhusudhana Chary said that it is quite unfortunate that the alleged involvement of Narendra in the human trafficking racket has come to light. He said hat he was suspended keeping in view the interests of the TRS an also the Telangana movement and send a show cause notice to him.

Interestingly, Narendra has admitted that he had the passports of the two MPs with him but denied that anyone traveled using them. In a relate developments, it is now confirmed that a TRS MLA had smuggled a women out, posing her husband and reportedly gone into underground.
