Court finds no prima facie evidence
Cuddapah, April 24, 2007On Tuesday, the Pulivendula Junior Civil Judge Kanthimathi dismissed the petition filed against the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy by DRDA Project Director G. Ashok Reddy on the directions of the State Election Commission on the ground that there was no prima facie evidence of cognizance.
Ashok Reddy on the directions of the State Election Commission filed a complaint in Pulivendula court through Assistant Public Prosecutor Karunakar Reddy seeking action against the Chief Minister on that the ground that he did not disclose 10.11 acres of land at Idupulapaya in the district while contesting Pulivendula in the Assembly elections in 2004.
In response to a notice served by the State Election Commission, thirteen documents were submitted along with the petition including the one of Rajasekhara Reddy's explanation. The Junior Civil Judge had recorded the sworn statements of the DRDA Project Director and Vempalle Thasiladar Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday. The DRDA Project Director sent a report to the State Election Commission stating that the Chief Minister's daughter had owned 10.11 acres of land in YSR Estates at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district. The Judge pronounced orders dismissing the petition after considering all the facts and materials.
