Lower price applicable to Indiramma Housing Schemes
Hyderabad, April 24, 2007The cement manufactures have agreed to supply 48 lakh tonnes of cement at a reduced price for the Indiramma Housing programme during the current financial year. However, the cement manufacturers have succeeded in forcing the government to pay Rs. 10 per bag more than last year's price.
The Minister for Housing K. Jana Reddy speaking to media said that the total required is 60 lakh tonnes while the manufactures have agreed to supply 48 tonnes. The companies will supply cement at Rs. 160 per bag in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts, Rs. 155 in East Godavari, Nellore and Chittoor and Rs. 145 in other districts.
The rates were finalized at a meeting between the Chief Minister and cement manufactures on Tuesday evening. In the open market, the cost of the cement bag ranges from Rs. 200 to 210.
