Eight year girl slips into an abandoned borewell

An eight-year old girl, Kavita a daughter of a migrant farm laborer died when she slipped into an abandoned bore well in Ugrawai village of Nizamabad district on Monday. The incident occurred during afternoon at around 3 PM. Rescue teams that reached the spot around 7pm tried to rescue her by digging a deep pit parallel to the bore well with earth movers but could not save her.

Kavita is a native of Srikapur in Medak district who migrated to Ugrawai along with her parents. The girl was playing in the vicinity while her parents were working in a sugarcane field. Unsuspecting the bore well, she slipped in the bore well. The Minister for Information, Mohd Ali Shabbier visited the spot and promised ex-gratia to the victim's family.
