Hyderabad, April 19, 2007

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday urged the Central Government to dismiss the Maharashtra Government by invoking Article 356 for ignoring the Central Water Commission's directive to stop the construction wok of controversial Babli project.

He was speaking to media said that even if the present Chief Minister was replaced, the new incumbent would continue the same policy. He commented that the Congress high command was favoring Maharashtra while damaging the interests of Andhra Pradesh.

He alleged that the Andhra Pradesh Congress leaders failed to protect the State's interests and the Centre was adopting dilatory tactics on the issue. He asked the AICC president Sonia Gandhi to intervene in the matter and find out a political solution to Babli at least now. He said that the Congress government should convene an all party meeting on the issue.
