TDP to organize march to Babli Project site

Nearly one lakh people to participate

Hyderabad, April 15, 2007

At a press conference on Sunday, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) said that its leaders would break the law and organize a march by lakhs of people to the Babli project after exhausting all democratic and legal avenues to make the Maharashtra Government halt work.

TDP leaders T. Devender Goud, S. Venugopalachary and E. Peddi Reddy lashed out the Maharashtra Government's adamant attitude in going ahead with the project in spite of directive from the Central Water Commission to stop the work. They said continuance of work is in violation inter State agreement and against the spirit of natural justice.

The TDP would organize a day long dharna and fast at the Sriramsagar project site, Pochampad on April 24 in protest against the Maharashtra Government's action. They said that nearly one lakh people including ryots and people's representatives would participate. They said that the Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu would also participate.
