Nizamabad, April 10, 2007

Maharashtra Police restored to lathi charge after Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers tried to forcefully enter into the Babli project site near Dhanbad at the Maharashtra - Andhra Pradesh interstate border. Section 144 was imposed in the district of Nanded. Few MLAs of the TDP were believed to have been arrested when they tried to enter the place.

The injured were rushed to the hospital. TDP President Nara Chandrababu Naidu immediately rushed from Hyderabad to the hospital where they are treated and consoled them. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that act of Maharashtra Police is unfair. The TDP is staging demonstrations and called for bandh in the Telangana districts of Nizamabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar and Nalgonda. The ruling Congress party gave their moral support for the bandh.
