State Cabinet approves tourism policy

Eluru Government Hospital to be upgraded

Hyderabad, September 8, 2006

The State Cabinet on Friday approved the tourism policy aimed at encouraging tourism industry in the State. The Cabinet chaired by the Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy decided to upgrade Eluru Government Hospital as super specialty hospital.

The Minister for Information Mohd Ali Shabbir, speaking to reporters that the tourism policy is aimed at encouraging rural tourism also. Several sops like concession in value added tax, power tariff and investment subsidy will be extended to those who set up hotels, motel and tourism related projects. He said that 9.3 crores tourists are visiting the State every year.

Reviewing the Housing Scheme of Indiramma programme, the cabinet has decided to recruit 200 assistant engineers on permanent basis and another 1100 work inspectors on contract basis immediately. The Chief Minister has decided to conduct a video conference on September 13 on the tardy progress in this direction.
