Protest at increased overlapping distance with private operators

Hyderabad, September 6, 2006

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation Employees Union State Executive committee that met on Wednesday decided to organize dharnas at all district Collectorates followed by rallies on September 15 against the move to privities the APSRTC.

The Union president NA Khan and other office bearers referred to the Government 's recent GO handing over 1611 kms length in 104 routes to private operators and extending overlapping distance from 8km to 25 km on the routes being operated by private operators.

The executive deplored the closure of five depots in the State and feared that management might close more depots. The committee demanded revocation of the two GOs. The Union warned that they would mobilize the RTC workers for direct action by uniting all like minded unions if the Government refuses to concede their demands.
