Minister appeals ministers not to go on strike
Hyderabad, September 4, 2006The Civil Supplies Minister N Raghuveera Reddy after reviewing with the departmental officials on the situation likely to arise in the event of the employee of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., and others to go on strike. He said that the State Government has invoked the Essential Service Maintenance Act (ESMA) 1971 on banning strikes by employees of oil companies.
He appealed to the employees not strike work in public interest and warned that the Government would not tolerate any inconvenience to consumers. However, he assured them that the Government would take up their problems with the Centre if they were brought to their notice. He directed the officials concerned to ensure that consumers did not experience any difficulty in securing LPG, Kerosene, Petrol and Diesel during the forthcoming season.
In the light of strike from September 5, 2006, the Commissioner of Civil Supplies Bhanwar Lal said that oil companies had reported that petrol and diesel bunks were full of stocks to the LPG distributors fully. All oil companies including the refineries have posted officers of the level of Deputy General Manager to take possession of all the locations and installations and they would operate if the proposed strike materializes.
