Qualifying date for revision of rolls is November 1, 2006

Hyderabad, September 29, 2006

The process for constituting the AP Legislative Council was set in motion with the Election Commission issuing a notification on Friday for preparing electoral rolls of the graduate and teacher constituencies. The Council will have 90 seats of which eight each will be filled by the graduate and teacher constituencies, 31 each by local authorities constituencies and MLAs while 12 will be nominated by the Governor.

According to an official release, the revision of the rolls will be undertaken with November 1, 2006 as the qualifying date. The last date for receipt of applications is November 6 and draft electoral rolls will be published on November 22. Final publication of the rolls will be done on December 29.
