A division bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising Justices A Gopal Reddy and Yethirajulu on Friday sentenced 11 persons to undergo life imprisonment for murdering former sarpanch of Pulivendula YS Raja Reddy over eight years ago. The deceased is the father of the Chief Minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy was died in a bomb attack while returning to Pulivendula from his farm house in a car on May 23, 1998.

The first additional sessions judge of Kadapa acquitted the accused for want of evidence and tainted investigation in September 2004, the Government preferred to appeal to High Court a month later. The bench, which heard the appeal, has gone through the entire evidence and pronounced the judgment on Friday.
