Hyderabad, September 28, 2006

The Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), Anakapalli, Cheepurupalli, Kuppam and Sircilla Rural Electric Cooperative Societies and the State Government have signed a tripartite agreement aimed at providing power connections to all villages in their jurisdiction. REC Chairman and Managing Director AK Lakhina signed the agreement with the officials of the four societies and the Government on Thursday providing for electrification under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameena Vidythikaran Yojana (RGGVY).

The four societies will receive Rs.23.15 crores for electrification of over 93,000 below poverty line households in 657 villages and over 1300 non electrified habitations in the rural areas. Speaking to the media, he said that Rs.16,000 crores was allocated to provide power to village and habit ions by 2009.
