Kurnool, September 27, 2006

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) president and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in principle agreed to implement the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) in the district in second phase.

Speaking at a public meeting organized by the District Congress Committee, she said that Andhra Pradesh was leading the country in the implementation of NREG programme. She asserted that both the State and Central Governments were fulfilling the elections promises and further said that a lot to be done. Sonia Gandi paid rich tributes to former Chief Minister late Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy and inaugurated a Kisan Ghat constructed at a cost of Rs.2.66 crore in memory of Vijayabhaskara Reddy and unveiled his statue.
