The Hyderabad police today arrested two persons and seized fake currency worth over Rs.36 lakhs. The arrested persons are Mohammed Shoukat Ali of Maida district in West Bengal and KV Satyanaryana Reddy of East Godavari district in the Andhra Pradesh.

Hyderabad, September 27, 2006

A six member team from Kolkata raided the office of Monozyme India Limited at Balanagar and arrested its director Anand Mallu on Wednesday for supplying expired diagnostic kits to blood banks in West Bengal.

The Kolkata police already arrested Govid Sharada, proprietor of Kolkata based Sharada Group of Companies. The company had been given the contract of supplying five types of diagnostic kits to various blood banks in Kolkata. The kits are used in blood tests and the chemicals in the spurious diagnostic kit were defective. If the kits are expired or spurious it will show wrong results. Two separate cases were registered by Kolkata detective department. The DCP of Detective department Gyanwanth Singh said that the fraud runs into hundreds of crores.
