State unit proposes his name unanimously
Hyderabad, September 24, 2006
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president N Indrasena Reddy said that the State Unit has unanimously named former Union Minister and Senior Party member Ch Vidyasagar Rao's name for the upcoming Parliamentary by-election from Karimnagar. The selection of the BJP candidate was decided at a meeting held on Saturday and this was conveyed to the central leadership. Indrasena Reddy said that the central leadership has cleared his name as party candidate for the by-poll. The Parliamentary board of the party has to give formally its consent.
Speaking to media on Sunday, Mr. Indrasena Reddy denied that the by-poll is a referendum on separate Telangana as claimed by Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy and Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhara Rao. He said that the new State president of BJP would be held on October 27.
The State Election Committee of the party would meet on October 4 to finalize the list of candidates from the graduates constituency from the election to the Legislative Council.
