Decision taken at the Advisory Council Meeting
Hyderabad, September 21, 2006A decision was taken to handover ambulance services in all the 28,000 villages to Emergency Management Research Institute (EMRI) 108 ambulance services in a phased manner. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary J.Harinarayan on Thursday.
Speaking to media, EMRI Chief Executive Officer Ch.Venkat said that the Government has come forward to provide 310 ambulances being purchased under Rural Child Health (RCH) programme in addition to the existing 122 ambulances.
The Government will provide necessary medical equipment and hand over the ambulances to EMRI. The new scheme will commence in November covering Chitoor ad East Godavari districts and will cover the remaining in a phased manner. As of now, EMRI is running its 75 ambulances in 50 towns and they were covering 3500 villages.
