CPI leaders whisked away
Vijayanagaram, September 10, 2006The Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy dedicated the Peddagadda irrigation project to the nation amid protests by tribals and left parties. The police whished away ten CPI leaders including the District secretary P.Kameswarararao from Pachipenta when they were proceeding to obstruct the Chief Minister programme. At Kesari village where the project is located, police stopped nearly 500 tribals from proceeding to the venue. The tribals were led by CPI (M) district secretary M.Krishna Murty and raised slogans against the Chief Minister and Minister for Marketing B Satyanarayana and demanded rehabilitation of the affected families.
The Chief Minister notwithstanding the developments inaugurated the irrigation project that was constructed at a cost of Rs.67.67 crores. He appealed the opposition parties to desist from inciting project affected people and creating trouble to derive political mileage.
