Minister inaugurates RTC Office Building

Vijayawada, September 1, 2006

Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana categorically stated that either the Ministry or the Chief Minister has plans for the privatization of the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). He said this speaking to the media after the inauguration of the RTC Office Building constructed at a cost of Rs. 63.31 lakhs in Vijayawada.

The Communists and the opposition parties are making unnecessary publicizing that the Government is making moves to privatize the road transport organization, he said. Speaking on the recent developments in the road transport sector, he said that the Road Transport Corporation will have a 95% share of passenger road travel on the National Highways while the private transport operators would have the remaining 5% share.

RTC Zonal Chairman Kogi Ramesh, Zilla Parishad Chairman K Nageswara Rao, UDA Chairman Malladi Vishnu and others were present at the press conferance.
