Hyderabad, October 9, 2006

The Minister for Agriculture N Raghuveera Reddy participating in the Farmer's Day at ICRISAT has asked the scientists to develop seeds which could withstand dry spell and said that many areas would not get water for irrigation although one crore acres would be irrigated due to Government's efforts.

The Minister at a review meeting on Rabi with the officials of the Agriculture and Civil Supplies departments and the Vice Chancellor of Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University on Monday asked the officials to conduct widespread campaign among farmers to give a big thrust to grow pulses in the ensuring Rabi season. He said that he would hold a video conference on the Rabi issue.
