Prime Minister gives assurance

Hyderabad, October 26, 2006

The Prime Minister on his one day visit to the State has given assurance that the Centre will announce a new policy on agriculture to achieve a quantum growth in production. He also promised to fulfill the commitment made in the budget with regard to FabCity and speed up the process related to ONGC refinery at Kakinada.

The Chief Minister's request to set up a regulatory authority to prevent ONGC and Reliance from hiking gas prices indiscriminately was responded positively by the Prime Minister. The Chief Minister said that he requested the Prime Minister to increase the purchase price of Jatropha seeds from Rs.7 to Rs.10 per kg to benefit the farmers who were encouraged to take up this cultivation in marginal lands under NREGS.
