CM reviews air and port projects

Hyderabad, October 24, 2006

The State Government is expecting an investment of Rs.6150 crores in the ports sector in the coming years and cargo handling is also expected to reach about 100 million tonnes.

The Chief Minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy reviewed the major projects being implemented in the sea and airport sectors on Tuesday. The State Government has yet to take a decision on the request of Reliance Company for a berth in Konaseema Projects Limited. Speaking to media persons, the Ports Minister J Rammohan Rao said that draft of AP Marine Board Act was ready and would be sent to the Centre for its approval. The expansion of airports at Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Tirupati is underway and Tirupati will soon will have night landing facility.
